Data Privacy Notice

Effective Date: July 2026

This notice explains some Youmi-specific data practices that may not be fully covered by our standard Privacy Policy.

‍

Youmi is designed to help people support someone who may be struggling with their mental health, emotional wellbeing, relationships, or difficult life circumstances. When using Youmi, you may choose to share information about yourself, someone you are supporting, or the situation you are trying to navigate.

‍

This may include sensitive information, including information related to mental health, emotional wellbeing, relationships, risk, distress, or support needs. You should avoid sharing unnecessary names, contact details, addresses, or other identifying information about another person unless it is relevant to the support you are seeking.

‍

Youmi may use AI-assisted technologies to help generate supporter guidance. This guidance is designed to help users think through what to say, what to do, and how to support someone in a more confident and sustainable way. Youmi is not medical advice, diagnosis, therapy, crisis support, or a substitute for professional help.

‍

Where Youmi is accessed through WhatsApp or another messaging service, we may process your phone number, profile information, message content, message metadata, and the information you choose to share in the conversation. Messaging providers may also process your information under their own terms and privacy policies.

‍

Youmi may invite users to take part in pilots, research, surveys, interviews, feedback sessions, or product testing. We use this information to understand user needs, evaluate the service, improve Youmi, develop evidence, and report anonymised or aggregated findings. We will not intentionally publish directly identifiable quotes, testimonials, case studies, or personal stories without appropriate permission.

‍

Youmi is not an emergency service.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. If you need urgent mental health support in the UK, contact NHS 111 or Samaritans on 116 123.

‍

For more detail about how we collect, use and protect personal information, please read our Privacy Policy.
